Evan Nison is the youngest ever Executive Director of NORML New Jersey, and sits on the Board of Directors of Students for Sensible Drug Policy. He also runs a cannabis specific PR firm, NisonCo. In New York he is the Co-Founder and Director of the NY Cannabis Alliance, which has helped craft numerous pieces of cannabis related legislation in New York. In 2010 he moved to California to run the college outreach effort for Prop 19 in California, which spanned over 40 schools. Over the past 14 years, she has managed successful advocacy campaigns, including the Compassionate Use Campaign which resulted in the enactment of New Jersey’s medical marijuana law, the New Solutions Campaign that reformed mandatory minimum sentencing and pretrial justice laws, and various harm reduction campaigns to reduce drug overdose deaths and establish syringe access programs in the state. Before joining the Drug Policy Alliance, Scotti was a research coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Studies of Addiction in the HIV Prevention Research Division. Former commissioner, Deborah Miran, was a member of the Natalie M. LaPrade Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission from 2013- 2016. While serving on the commission, she was also a member of the executive committee, policy, and research subcommittees, and was chair of the education subcommittee. She was responsible for developing education programs for doctors and patients, and was also an integral part of crafting the current regulations. Prior to the commission she was president and founder of Miran Consulting, Inc. There she advised both brand and generic drug makers on the FDA approval process. Graduated magna cum laude from Muhlenberg College with a double major in Natural Sciences and Biology. She was selected to be part of Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Dr. Bryan Doner received his undergraduate education at Denison University and completed a graduate program in Medical Sciences at the University of Massachusetts at Boston. Foundation of Cannabis Unified Standards (FOCUS)

FOCUS is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that develops international, cannabis-specific standards and third-party certification for the cannabis industry to protect public health, consumer safety, and safeguard the environment.  FOCUS is the only organization to create voluntary-consensus standards suitable for accreditation and adoption into regulations by assuring impartiality, balance and transparency in the development process. Unlike most standards-setting organizations, FOCUS does not accept dues or fees for standards development. FOCUS is not a regulatory agency or industry trade association. This autonomy fosters a principled, objective environment in which comprehensive standards can be developed. FOCUS Standards provide current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) guidelines for all key areas of the cannabis industry including Cultivation, Retail, Extraction, Infused Products, Laboratory, Security, Sustainability, and Packaging & Labeling.

PotBotics

PotBotics is a New York and Silicon Valley based biotech company working to reduce patients’ reliance on “roll of the dice” medical marijuana recommendations by identifying and quantifying the effects different cannabinoids have on patients with various symptoms and conditions. PotBotics main products, PotBot and BrainBot, streamline the selection and recommendation process to a point where personal recommendations can be made without the need for patients to experiment with different strains themselves. BrainBot is a wireless EEG device that allows general practitioners to analyze neural response to cannabinoid stimulants, while PotBot is a medical cannabis recommendation engine that uses scientific data to recommend cannabinoid levels, custom strains, and consumption methods to patients via in-store kiosk, desktop, and mobile apps.

Manna Molecular Science

Manna Molecular Science began operating in late-summer 2016 in response to the need its founders identified for medically sound and lab-tested whole-plant cannabis medicine delivery systems. Its founders are Boston-area pharmaceutical chemists and cannabis industry experts dedicated to advancing cannabis science. We use proprietary state-of-the-art 3d printer known as the MannaBot One ("MB1") to reproducibly and consistently dose our transdermal patches all over the US.  

ForwardGro

ForwardGro has combined best in class greenhouse growing practices, business management, medical cannabis research, and patient advocacy to become Maryland’s premier grower and manufacturer of medical cannabis and related products. In 2014, when Mike McCarthy and Gary Mangum, co-founders of Maryland’s largest greenhouse grower, heard the state was considering legalizing cannabis for medical use, they were very interested in learning about the growing process. Their initial research found plans for indoor growing facilities, which went against everything the duo knew from a lifetime of working in greenhouse and related businesses. As founders of Bell Nursery, the nation’s sixth largest greenhouse and single largest Home Depot live goods supplier, the duo saw the potential for growing cannabis in a greenhouse environment and listed the benefits for Maryland legislators: greenhouses are efficient, sustainable, require less energy, and result in a more consistent, robust product.

Americans for Safe Access

The mission of Americans for Safe Access (ASA) is to ensure safe and legal access to cannabis (marijuana) for therapeutic use and research. ASA was founded in 2002, by medical cannabis patient Steph Sherer, as a vehicle for patients to advocate for the acceptance of cannabis as medicine. With over 100,000 active members in all 50 states, ASA is the largest national member-based organization of patients, medical professionals, scientists and concerned citizens promoting safe and legal access to cannabis for therapeutic use and research.
